FAQ

Frequently asked questions

How do I convert HEX to RGB?

Split the six HEX digits into three pairs and convert each pair from base 16 to base 10. For example #336699 becomes 51, 102, 153. Paste a HEX code above and the converter does it for you.

What is OKLCH and why use it?

OKLCH describes a color by lightness, chroma and hue in a perceptually uniform space. Changing lightness looks consistent across hues, which makes it great for design systems. All modern browsers support oklch() in CSS.

Is the CMYK value accurate for printing?

It is a straightforward mathematical conversion without a color profile. Printers use profiles such as FOGRA or GRACoL, so treat it as a starting point and proof important print work.

Why is the pick-from-screen button missing?

The EyeDropper API is currently available in Chromium browsers such as Chrome, Edge and Opera on desktop. In other browsers you can use the color picker swatch instead.

Can I convert colors with transparency?

Yes. Alpha from 8-digit HEX, rgba(), hsla() or the slash syntax is preserved in the HEX, RGB, HSL and OKLCH outputs.
