How it works

How to use CSV Splitter

  1. Drop a CSV, TSV or TXT file onto the page, or try the sample file.

  2. Choose how to split: a fixed number of rows per file, a number of equal parts, or one file per value of a column.

  3. Keep First row is a header switched on to repeat the header at the top of every file.

  4. Download each file on its own, or all of them at once as a ZIP.

Why use it

Why use our CSV Splitter tool

Three ways to split

Cut every N rows (for upload limits), into N equal parts (for sharing work), or by column value — one file per region, customer or month.

Header in every file

The header row is repeated at the top of each part so every file opens correctly in Excel, Google Sheets or an import tool.

Handles huge files

Files of 50 MB and more are parsed in a background worker with a progress bar, so the page never freezes.

Correct CSV parsing

Quoted fields, commas and line breaks inside quotes are kept intact — rows are never cut in half like a plain line splitter would.

ZIP download

Get all the parts in one ZIP with sortable names like orders-part-01.csv, or download single files.

Private and offline

Your file is split on your device and never uploaded — safe for customer lists, exports and financial data.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

How do I split a large CSV file into multiple files?

Drop the file here, choose Rows per file and enter a number such as 10,000, then press Download ZIP. Each part gets the original header row and up to that many data rows.

Can I split a CSV by the values in a column?

Yes. Choose Column value and pick the column — for example Region or Country. You get one file per distinct value, named after it, such as orders-North.csv. Up to 1,000 different values are supported.

Will rows with commas or line breaks inside quotes break?

No. The splitter uses a real RFC 4180 CSV parser, so a quoted field containing commas, quotes or line breaks always stays in one row of one file.

How large a CSV file can I split?

Files up to 250 MB can be opened. Parsing runs in a background worker so the page stays responsive; the practical limit depends on your device's memory.

How are rows divided when I choose a number of files?

As evenly as possible. For 10 rows into 3 files you get 4, 3 and 3 rows. If you ask for more files than there are rows, each row goes into its own file.

Is my CSV uploaded to a server?

No. Everything — reading, splitting and zipping — happens locally in your browser. Nothing leaves your device.
