FAQ

Frequently asked questions

How is exact age calculated?

We count whole months from your birth date, then the remaining days. Each month is measured from the original birth day, so someone born on 31 January turns one month old on the last day of February.

How are leap-day birthdays handled?

If you were born on 29 February, your birthday is treated as 28 February in years without a leap day. Some countries legally use 1 March instead; the difference is one day.

Does the calculator use my time zone?

Today's date comes from your device's local calendar. Ages are calculated from calendar dates only, so daylight-saving changes never shift the result.

Can I calculate age at a future date?

Yes. Set the optional “age at” date to any day after the birth date — handy for eligibility rules, school entry or retirement planning.

Why is the hours total a whole number of days?

Without a birth time we count from midnight to midnight, so total hours are total days × 24.
