Frequently asked questions
Why is some of my PDF's text missing?
Scanned documents and photos saved as PDF contain pictures of text, not real text. Those pages show “No text on this page”. Convert them to images with PDF to JPG and run them through Image to Text (OCR).
Does it keep the formatting?
You get plain text: lines, word spacing and paragraph breaks are rebuilt, but fonts, colours, images and exact layout are not. Multi-column pages are read line by line across the page.
Can I extract text from a password-protected PDF?
Yes. If a password is needed to open the file you'll be asked for it. If you don't know the password, the text can't be read.
How do I extract text from only a few pages?
Choose Custom range, type the pages (for example 2-4, 7) and press Extract. Copy or download works on exactly those pages.
Is there a page or size limit?
No fixed limit. Files up to about 300 MB work on most computers; very large documents simply take a little longer because your device does the work.
Is my PDF uploaded?
No. Text extraction runs entirely in your browser with PDF.js. Your file never leaves your device.
