How it works

How to use Image to Text

  1. Pick the language of the text — English, Urdu, Hindi, Arabic or English + Urdu.

  2. Drop one or more images, paste a screenshot with Ctrl+V, or click to browse.

  3. Wait for the progress bar; the first run downloads the OCR model once.

  4. Fix any mistakes in the text box, then copy it or download a .txt file.

Why use it

Why use our Image to Text tool

Your image stays on your device

Recognition runs in a Web Worker inside your browser. Only the OCR engine and language model are downloaded — your picture is never sent anywhere.

Urdu, Hindi, Arabic and English

Right-to-left scripts are shown right-to-left, and English + Urdu handles mixed documents such as forms and notices.

Photo enhancement

An optional grayscale and contrast boost cleans up shadowy phone photos and faded scans before reading them.

Batch and paste

Drop several images at once and get a separate, editable result for each — or paste a screenshot straight from the clipboard.

Edit, copy, download

Correct the text right in the box, copy it in one click, or save each result (or all of them) as a .txt file.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

Is my image uploaded to a server?

No. The OCR engine runs inside your browser. The first time you use it, your browser downloads the engine and the language model from a public CDN and caches them. Your image itself never leaves your device.

Why is the first run slower?

On first use the browser downloads the OCR engine and the model for the language you chose (a few megabytes each). They are cached, so later runs start almost instantly — even for new images.

Can it read Urdu or Hindi text?

Yes. Choose Urdu, Hindi or Arabic before adding the image, or English + Urdu for mixed text. Printed text works best; Nastaliq calligraphy and handwriting are much harder for any OCR and will need more correcting.

How can I get more accurate results?

Use a sharp, well-lit photo taken straight on, crop away everything except the text, keep “Enhance photo” on for camera pictures, and make sure the language setting matches the text.

Does it work with handwriting?

Only neat block handwriting, and even then expect errors. The engine is trained on printed text, so typed documents, screenshots and signs give the best results.

Which image formats are supported?

JPG, PNG and WebP, including screenshots pasted from the clipboard. For a PDF, take a screenshot of the page or export it as an image first.
