How it works

How to use JPG to Text

  1. Choose the language printed in the photo.

  2. Drop your .jpg or .jpeg file (or several) onto the box.

  3. Wait for the text to appear — the first run downloads the OCR model once.

  4. Correct anything that was misread, then copy or save as .txt.

Why use it

Why use our JPG to Text tool

Made for camera photos

JPGs from phone cameras are often dim or uneven; photo enhancement is switched on to boost contrast before reading.

Large photos handled

Huge 12–50 MP photos are scaled to an OCR-friendly size automatically, so they read faster without losing accuracy.

Notes, notices and receipts

Copy text from photographed class notes, printed notices, letters or receipts instead of retyping it.

No upload

Your JPG is processed on your phone or computer — only the OCR engine is downloaded, once.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

Can I convert a JPG to a Word document?

This page gives you the plain text. Copy it and paste into Word or Google Docs, where you can add formatting. Tables and columns may need tidying.

Why is some text wrong or missing?

Blur, shadows, tilted pages and small print all lower accuracy. Retake the photo straight on in good light, crop to the text, and make sure the right language is selected.

Does JPG quality matter?

Yes. Heavily compressed JPGs (for example from WhatsApp) lose detail around letters. Use the original photo from your camera when you can.

Is my photo private?

Yes. The image is read by OCR running in your browser and is never uploaded. The engine and language model are fetched from a CDN the first time, then cached.
