How it works

How to use Remove Duplicate Lines

  1. Paste your list into the input box, one item per line.

  2. Choose options such as case-insensitive matching, trimming spaces or how to treat empty lines.

  3. Copy or download the de-duplicated list — the counter shows how many duplicates were removed.

Why use it

Why use our Remove Duplicate Lines tool

Keep first or last

Choose whether the first or the last occurrence of a repeated line survives, keeping the rest of the order intact.

Flexible matching

Ignore letter case and stray leading or trailing spaces so “Apple” and “ apple ” count as the same line.

Empty line control

Dedupe blank lines, keep every one of them to preserve paragraph breaks, or remove them all.

Show duplicates only

Flip the view to list just the values that appear more than once — great for auditing data.

Handles big lists

Tens of thousands of lines are processed instantly on your device, with nothing uploaded.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

Does removing duplicates change the order of my lines?

No. Remaining lines stay in their original order; only the repeated copies are removed. Use the Text Sorter if you also want the list sorted.

What does “keep last occurrence” do?

Instead of keeping the first time a line appears, it keeps the final one and removes earlier copies. This is handy for logs or exports where the latest entry is the one that matters.

How do I find which lines are duplicated?

Turn on “Show duplicates only”. The output then lists each value that appears more than once, and the Repeated counter tells you how many such values there are.

Can I remove duplicate emails or URLs regardless of capitalisation?

Yes. Enable case-insensitive matching and trim whitespace, so Jane@Example.com and “jane@example.com ” are treated as the same line.

Does it work with CSV or Excel data?

It works on whole lines, so a column copied from Excel or Google Sheets works perfectly. For CSV, each full row is compared as one line.
