Frequently asked questions
How do I remove line breaks but keep paragraphs?
Choose “Join lines, keep paragraphs”. Single line breaks inside a paragraph become spaces, while blank lines between paragraphs are kept as one empty line. Pick “Join into one line” if you want everything on a single line.
What are invisible or zero-width characters?
Characters such as the zero-width space (U+200B), byte-order mark, soft hyphen and direction marks take up no space on screen but can break searches, code, spreadsheets and form validation. They often sneak in when copying from websites, chat apps or AI tools.
Will removing accents break other languages?
No. Only Latin, Greek and Cyrillic accent marks are removed (é → e, ß → ss, ø → o). Vowel signs in scripts like Arabic, Urdu and Hindi are left untouched because they are part of the words.
Why should I convert smart quotes to straight quotes?
Curly quotes from Word, Google Docs or macOS break code, CSV files, JSON and command lines that expect plain ' and " characters. Straightening them keeps pasted text safe for technical use.
Does stripping HTML keep the text structure?
Yes. Tags, comments, scripts and styles are removed, while paragraphs, list items and <br> tags become line breaks and entities like & are decoded to normal characters.
Is my text uploaded anywhere?
