How it works

How to use Audio Trimmer

  1. Drop an audio file — MP3, WAV, M4A, OGG or FLAC. It's decoded on your device.

  2. Drag the two handles on the waveform, or type exact start and end times like 0:42.5.

  3. Press “Play selection” to listen, and add a fade in, fade out or volume boost if you like.

  4. Choose MP3 (and a bitrate) or WAV, then click Download.

Why use it

Why use our Audio Trimmer tool

Precise waveform editing

See the whole track as a waveform, drag start and end handles with mouse or touch, nudge them with the arrow keys or type times down to the millisecond.

Fades and volume

Smooth fade in and fade out (up to 10 seconds) and a ±12 dB volume control with a warning before peaks start to distort.

MP3 or lossless WAV

Export MP3 from 96 to 320 kbps, encoded in a background worker so the page stays responsive, or 16-bit WAV for full quality.

Ringtone presets

One click selects a 30-second or 40-second clip — the maximum length an iPhone accepts for ringtones.

Private and offline

Decoding, trimming and encoding all run in your browser. Your music and voice recordings are never uploaded.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

How do I make a ringtone from a song?

Drop the song here, click “40 s ringtone” (or drag the handles to your favourite part), add a short fade in and out, and download an MP3. Android phones accept the MP3 as a ringtone straight away.

Can I make an iPhone ringtone (.m4r)?

iPhones require the .m4r (AAC) format and a maximum of 40 seconds. Browsers can't reliably write that format, so export an MP3 here, open it in GarageBand on your iPhone and use Share → Ringtone — or on a Mac, convert it to AAC in Music and rename it to .m4r.

Which audio formats can I trim?

Anything your browser can play: MP3, WAV, M4A/AAC, OGG, Opus and FLAC work in all modern browsers, and the audio track of MP4 and WebM videos usually works too. WMA, AMR and DRM-protected files aren't supported.

Does trimming reduce quality?

WAV export is lossless. MP3 is re-encoded, so pick 192 kbps or higher for music; 128 kbps is plenty for ringtones and speech.

Is my audio uploaded anywhere?

No. The file is decoded and encoded with the Web Audio API and a JavaScript MP3 encoder inside your browser tab. Nothing is sent to a server.
