How it works

How to use Trim Video

  1. Drop a video (MP4, MOV, WebM or MKV) onto the page — it opens on your device, nothing is uploaded.

  2. Drag the start and end handles on the thumbnail timeline, use the arrow keys, or type exact times.

  3. Press “Play selection” to check the cut. Optionally mute the audio or rotate the video by 90°.

  4. Pick “Fast” for an instant lossless cut or “Exact” for a frame-accurate one, then click Trim & download.

Why use it

Why use our Trim Video tool

Lossless fast mode

Fast mode copies the original video and audio without re-encoding, so even long 4K clips are trimmed in seconds with zero quality loss.

Frame-exact when you need it

Exact mode re-encodes just your clip so it starts and ends on precisely the frame you picked — no keyframe snapping.

Thumbnail timeline

See where scenes change at a glance and fine-tune each edge with the keyboard in 0.1 s or 1 s steps.

Mute and rotate

Strip the soundtrack or fix a sideways phone video in the same step — no second tool needed.

Private by design

Your footage never leaves your device. No account, no watermark and no file-size paywall.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

What is the difference between Fast and Exact?

Videos can only be cut cleanly at keyframes (a full picture every few seconds). Fast copies the video from the nearest keyframe, so it's instant and lossless but may start a moment early. Exact re-encodes the clip so it starts on the exact frame, which takes longer.

Is my video uploaded when I trim it?

No. Your browser reads the file, cuts the selected part and writes the new file itself. In Fast mode it copies the existing frames without re-encoding, so even long clips are trimmed in seconds without leaving your device.

Can I trim an iPhone MOV video?

Yes. iPhone videos (H.264 or HEVC in MOV) open directly. Choose MP4 output to save a file that plays everywhere; Fast mode keeps the original quality.

Will trimming add a watermark or reduce quality?

Never a watermark. Fast mode keeps the exact original quality. Exact mode re-encodes at a high bitrate, so the difference is very hard to see.

Is there a length or size limit?

Files up to 2 GB are accepted. Everything is processed in your device's memory, so very long or high-resolution videos are smoother on a laptop than on an older phone.

Which browsers can trim videos?

Trimming uses the WebCodecs API, available in current Chrome, Edge and Opera, Safari 26 or newer, and recent Firefox. Fast mode only copies frames, so it stays quick even on older phones; if your browser lacks WebCodecs, the page tells you instead of failing.
