How it works

How to use Extract Audio from Video

  1. Drop one or more videos — MP4, MOV, M4V or WebM recorded on a phone, camera or screen recorder.

  2. Pick the audio format: MP3 for sharing, WAV for editing, or M4A when your browser supports AAC.

  3. Choose a bitrate and, for speech, mono to halve the file size.

  4. Click Convert and the audio is saved to your device.

Why use it

Why use our Extract Audio from Video tool

Only the audio is decoded

The video track is skipped and the file is read in pieces, so even long phone videos convert quickly without loading everything into memory.

MP3, WAV or M4A output

Save a small MP3 to share, a lossless WAV for editing in Audacity or a DAW, or AAC in an M4A container.

Lecture and podcast friendly

Mix down to mono and normalize the volume to turn a recorded talk or meeting into a clean, compact audio file.

Your videos stay private

Extraction runs entirely in your browser. Personal videos are never uploaded anywhere.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

Which video formats work?

MP4 and M4V (H.264 / AAC), MOV from iPhones and cameras, and WebM all work in Chrome and Edge. Firefox and Safari handle most MP4 files. If a video has no sound track, you'll see a friendly message.

Is the audio quality the same as in the video?

Choosing WAV keeps the decoded audio exactly. MP3 and M4A re-encode it, so pick 192 kbps or higher for music; 96–128 kbps is plenty for speech.

Can I extract audio from a YouTube link?

No — this tool works with video files on your device. It doesn't download anything from the internet.

Is there a file size limit?

Files up to 2 GB are accepted. Very long videos need enough free memory for the decoded audio, so phones may struggle with multi-hour recordings.
