FAQ
Frequently asked questions
Does converting MP3 to WAV improve quality?
No. WAV stores the decoded MP3 exactly, so it sounds the same — just in a format editors and CD software accept. Detail removed by MP3 compression can't be restored.
Why is the WAV file so much bigger?
WAV is uncompressed: about 10 MB per minute for 44.1 kHz stereo, versus about 1.4 MB for a 192 kbps MP3.
Which sample rate should I pick?
44.1 kHz for CDs and music, 48 kHz for video projects, and 16 kHz mono for speech-recognition or phone systems.
Are my files uploaded?
No. Conversion happens entirely on your device.
