FAQ

Frequently asked questions

What is the difference between capital and small letters?

Capital letters (A, B, C) are also called uppercase; small letters (a, b, c) are lowercase. This page turns every capital letter into its small form.

Will names and the first word of sentences also become small?

Yes — lowercase changes every letter. If you want sentences to start with a capital again, choose Sentence case after pasting.

Can I convert capital to small letters in Excel or Word instead?

Excel has the =LOWER() formula and Word has Shift+F3. This page is quicker when the text is in an email, PDF or website, and it works on phones too.

Does it work with other alphabets?

Yes. Accented Latin letters, Greek and Cyrillic are converted correctly. Scripts without capitals, such as Urdu or Hindi, are left unchanged.
